Now it’s Donald Trump versus Donald Trump
I am afraid both of them will lose. Just to set the table: I believe in Make America Great, make America Greater and Trumpism – that is, the policies Trump espouses and policies he executed while in office. These are ideas the country needs more of. The challenge is that all the good may be stolen from us because of the imperfect vessel proclaiming them
I am not picking on Trump because he is not morally or politically correct. I am much more concerned about the country and by extension the rest of the world if Mr. Trump succumbs to his ego and wounded pride to take the emphasis off the American future and on Trump’s ego including revenge for all the abuse that was heaped upon him by the corrupt establishment. I am not saying most of what he proposed or others he accused was incorrect, but you catch a lot more flies with honey than vinegar. Another apt expression might be: “A public convinced against their will is of the same opinion still.”
My concern was stoked by his grandstanding campaign announcement the week after the midterms, when the Republican team did not do very well and there were still races (notably the Georgia runoff to be settled). Trump draws thousands of devoted fans, many of whom feel they are saving the country from a number of political cancers. Their feelings and ambitions are correct, but their methods may be playing into the opposition’s hands. Not only are they too emotionally blinded for their own good and the conservative cause’s good, but their emotional devotion may turn off more people than they convert to the conservative cause. And elections are still won by the most votes, not just by great ideals.
Unfortunately, I fear that Trump and his devotees will be just the solution the Dem’s need to stay in power. Not that the Dem’s have done anything good, in fact they have been very anti American: consumer, taxpayer, school parent and national security … The fact that they have virtually screwed up everything they touched from oil pipelines to Afghanistan should have been enough to wipe them out in the midterms. The Republicans (what we have for conservative party) had more actual voters, but lost many high profile elections. Of course some of those elections were stolen legally, but if you let the bad guys make the rules, guess who the rules will favor.
Trying to bring this very complicated multi-faceted issue to a short concept: real intelligent, concerned Americans need to beat on the Republicans to act like statesmen with real values and convince the general public that the bad stuff they are experiencing is only going to get worse and American values are worth fighting for.
